The Dacia Duster has been declared Scottish Car of the Year 2012. This seems to be a paradox because the Romanian SUV hasn’t been gone on sale in the UK or Ireland.

The Dacia Duster was also been selected as the winner of the SUV category and Budget category thanks to its unrivalled value in a package particularly relevant to the Scottish market.

The Romanian model will be available in the Scottish show-rooms in January 2013 and thanks to these awards it will be a very big success for the Dacia automaker.

"From pretty much the outset it was apparent that it would be far from a one horse race to the finishing post for the 2012 Scottish Car of the Year. The previous 12 months have witnessed the arrival of countless new models and with almost every passing month there has been one which has caught the attention of ASMW members as being a possible winner of our ultimate accolade", said John Murdoch, president of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers.
