Now here a unique way of unveiling an upcoming model – by presenting its motorsport oriented variant first. This is the 2012 Dacia Lodgy Glace, a car based on next year’s Geneva Motor Show bound Lodgy MPV, which will compete in the new season of Trophee Andros.
The car replaces the old Dacia Duster based version, with power being extracted this time from a Nissan sourced 3.0-litre V6 rated at 355 HP and 360 Nm of torque. The 2012 Dacia Lodgy Glace features a tubular steel chassis, sits on a suspension with double wishbones and puts power to the ground (or should we say ice), via a SADEV 6-speed sequential transmission.
In this winter’s championship we will be see two Dacia Lodgy Glace exemplars aligned on the grid, one of which will be driven by former Formula 1 Champion, Alain Prost, and the other by his son, Nicolas Prost and team-mate Evens Stievenart.
The first race on the Throphee Andros calendar will take place at Val Thorens on December 3-4, with the season ending on January 27-28.
Even though this motorsport version Dacia Lodgy has went to serious modifications in order to become competitive in the French ice-racing series, we still get a pretty good idea of what to expect one this new MPV makes its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012.
