With the introduction of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala GM has completed the transformation of its North American passenger car lineup.
The redesigned flagship sedan is now more refined, is also more expressive in terms of style and is "expected to be an exhilarating driving experience".
Mark Reuss, president, GM North America said that "The 2014 Impala re-establishes this iconic Chevrolet nameplate as a
design leader, with bold styling that will turn heads for years to
come," "The team has also delivered the comfort, safety, fuel efficiency and
technology that will strengthen Impala’s leadership in the highly
competitive full-size sedan market."
The 10th generation Impala will go on sale in early 2013
and some of its highlights include the all new exterior described as an evolution of Chevrolet’s design language, and also the new interior characterised by a flowing design which is now more comfortable, more quiet and which features a new instrument cluster with an integrated center stack that incorporates an 8-inch screen display with available Chevrolet MyLink.
On the outside the 2014 Impala features sleek proportions, sculpted body sides, 18 inch wheels and projector beam headlamps with HID and LED daytime running lights as standard on LTX models which sweep around the corners and frame the wide grille.
The new Impala comes with three engine choices : a 3.6-litre V6 producing 303 HP (226 kW), a new 2.5-litre 4-cylinder unit rated at 195 HP (145 kW) and a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder with eAssist estimated at 182 HP (134 kW) which is expected to achieve 35 mpg on the highway.
All engine options are matched with 6-speed automatic transmissions.
The 2013 Chevrolet Impala will be offered in LS, LT and LTZ trim levels and will be assembled at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck, Mich., and Oshawa, Ontario facilities. Its pricing will be announced at a later time.
