GM is marking the 60th Anniversary and the final year of production for the current C6 by launching the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition – "the fastest, most capable convertible in Corvette’s history".
The American manufacturer is also using the same occasion in order to introduce the 60th Anniversary Package for all 2013 Corvette models, as for the 427 Convertible, the car will be seen in all its glory at the Barrett Jackson collector car auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Jan 21st.
US dealerships will start receiving the car early this summer, so if this is something you might be interested in, here is what you need to know about it.
The 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition is fitted with a 427-cubic-inch (7.0L) LS7 engine from the Z06 which means it produces 505 HP (377 kW) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque. All that power will be sent to the wheels exclusively through a 6-speed manual gearbox and if you want to know know what this thing is capable of then here at its performance figures : 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, quarter-mile
performance of 11.8 seconds, lateral acceleration of 1.04 G and a top speed of more than 190 mph.
The 427 Convertible which also borrows its driveline and rear axle from the Z06 has undergone a weight saving program that enable it to tip the scale at 3,355 lbs (1,522 Kg), so if you do the calculations, its power-to-weight ratio is 1HP per 6.64 lb, which means more than the  Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet (6.90), Audi R8 5.2 RSI Spyder (7.58), Aston Martin DBS Volante Convertible (7.82) and Ferrari California Convertible (8.31).
The 427 Convertible is available in 2LT, 3LT and 4LT trim levels, and some of the elements that helped in lowering its kerb weight include a carbon fiber raised hood, carbon fiber fenders and floor panels, and the optional carbon front splitter and rocker panels which are also included in the 60th Anniversary Package.
Just like the 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition, the models fitted with the 60th Anniversary package will feature the Arctic White exterior finish highlighted by the Blue Diamond leather wrapped interior with suede accents.
The rest of the elements in this package include a ZR1 style rear spoiler, special badging, gr brake callipers, logoed wheel center caps, steering wheel and headrests, optional racing stripes and special badges on the waterfall panel of the convertible models.
