BMW has officially unveiled the 2016 225xe Active Tourer plug-in hybrid. The new model will be showcased during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show the event that will kick off in two weeks. 
The 2016 BMW 225xe Active Tourer plug-in hybrid comes with a new powertrain that features a 1.5 liter three-cylinder petrol unit and an electric motor that is backed up by a 7.7 kWh battery pack. The combustion engine delivers 136 horsepower and 220 Nm peak of torque while the electric one can offer 88 horsepower and 165 Nm of torque. 

In total, the 2016 BMW 225xe Active Tourer plug-in hybrid can offer 224 HP and 385 Nm peak of torque. As a result, the car can run from stand still to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, while the top speed is clocked at 202 km/h. The German car manufacturer has announced that the average fuel consumption of the 2016 BMW 225xe Active Tourer plug-in hybrid will be between 2.0 and 2.1 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 46 and 49 grams per kilometer.

In the electric mode, the German model can run up to 41 kilometers with a top speed of 125 km/h. When the battery is out it can be fully recharged in about three hours and a quarter.
