The Germans from Audi have pulled the wraps off the 2013 RS4 Avant. This top-off the line A4 model will appear in the flesh at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, but we don’t have to wait until March to find out what new RS4 Avant is capable of as technical and performance details have also accompanied today’s official release.
The performance version station wagon is powered by the company’s 4.2-litre V8 that generates 450 PS (331 kW) at 8,250 rpm and 430 Nm (317.15 lb-ft) of peak torque between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm, with this engine allowing the 2013 RS4 Avant to sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 Km/h) in 4.7 seconds and reach a limited top speed of 155 mph (155 mph) / (can be increased to 127 mph / 280 Km/h upon request).
Also responsible for the car’s performance are the 7-speed S tronic dual clutch transmission and the all-wheel drive quattro system that sends 60 percent of the engines power to the rear and 40 percent to the front. Thanks to the crown-gear center differential system however the engine’s power can be distributed up to 70 percent to the front or as much as 85 percent to the rear.
The 2013 Audi RS4 Avant requires 11 litres of fuel to cover 100 Km (21.38 US mpg).
If compared to the regular A4 model, the RS4 gained a revised chassis, a new electromechanical power steering, a lower and stiffer suspension as well as upgraded brakes (carbon ceramic discs as optional).
In terms of styling Ingolstadt’s latest performance estate comes with aggressive looking bumpers, a new grille in aluminium-look finish, flared wheel arches, a new diffuser, new side sills, aluminium look mirror casings and front lip spoiler.
At the interior there are a pair of sports seats at the front, a multifunctional steering wheel, various aluminium accents and a cargo area that can accommodate 1,430 litres worth of luggage.
The 2013 Audi RS4 Avant price starts at 76,600 Euro in Germany.
