Audi’s range topping model, the R8 has received a fresh makeover in order to become even more competitive in the supercar arena.
The exterior changes which are mostly about revised headlamps, new LED taillights, a new front bumper and a new front grille are matched by a mechanical updates such as the introduction of a new seven-speed S tronic gearbox that comes as a replacement for the old six-speed R Tronic.
This new transmission which will be offered on both the V8 and V10 models will enable quicker acceleration times, around 0.3 quicker than the regular six-speed manual gearbox for example.
As far as the engine range for the 2013 Audi R8 Facelift, the 4.2-litre FSI V8 will deliver 424 HP (316 kW) and 430 Nm of torque while the 5.2-litre V10 will now be available with two output levels, one that is rated at 518 HP and 530 Nm of torque, and one that reaches 542 HP and 540 Nm of torque.
The higher output engine will be offered on the new range topping model called the V10 Plus which will only be available as a coupe.
Audi claims that the facelifted R8 V8 equipped with the S Tronic transmission, is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 Km/h in 4.3 seconds (4.6 seconds for the Spyder) and that it to speed is now 302 Km/h (both variants).
As for the V10 models, the standard version accelerates from 0 to 100 Km/h in 3.6 seconds and can hit a top speed of 317 Km/h, with the R10 V10 Plus being just 0.1 seconds faster with a 3.5 seconds nought to 100 kmph sprint time.
The R10 V10 Spyder goes from 0 to 100 in 3.8 seconds and its maximum speed is 311 Km/h.
Pricing for the 2013 Audi R8 Facelift starts at 113,500 Euros and 124,800 Euros for the V8 coupe and Spyder versions. The V10 variants start at 154,600 Euros and reach 173,200 Euros for the R8 V10 Plus.
