Apart from the 2012 Audi S8, the Ingolstadt based automaker has also unveiled the 2012 Audi S7, a sportier version of the standard model which will…you guessed it, premiere at the 2011 IAA in Frankfurt on September 13th.
The 2012 Audi S7 extract power from a 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbocharged V8 which according to the German automaker will generate 420 HP and 550 Nm (405.7 lb-ft) of peak torque. As you will note, this is a less powerful version (100 HP less) of the 4.0-litre 8-cylinder engine found in the new S8, but nevertheless performance figures are still impressive as the 2012 Audi S7 can rocket from nought to 62 mph (0 to 100 Km/h) in 4.9 seconds and is capable of reaching a top speed of 155 mph (255 Km/h) / electronically limited.
With power being transformed into motion by a 7-speed S tronic dual clutch transmission the 2012 Audi S7 will return 9.7-litres per 100 Km (24.3 mpg / US rating), which is again pretty impressive considering this four-dorr coupe features Audi’s trademark all-wheel-drive ‘quattro’ system.
The 2012 Audi S7 can also be equipped with a sport differential in order to make the car more dynamic, internally ventilated brakes (ceramic brakes are optional) and an adaptive air suspension.
In the looks department, the car comes with dynamic looking alloys (19 inch in size), a more aggressive front fascia due to the new grille and bumper, and a reshaped rear section which accommodates the four tail pipes.
The 2012 Audi S7 price was not announced, but the automaker plans to start selling this model stating from spring next year.
