If you thought the 2012 S8 and the 2012 S7 are the only new models on Audi’s menu at the 64th edition Frankfurt Motor Show, then you are wrong, because the four-ringed automaker has also unveiled the 2012 S6 and S6 Avant iterations of the A6.
Both the 2012 Audi S6 and S6 Avant extract their juice from the same 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 found in the new S7, which means output levels sit at 420 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque (405 lb-ft), in this cased developed between 1,400 and 5,300 rpm via a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
Both the 2012 Audi S6 and S6 Avant come with quattro all wheel drive, and when it comes to accelerating from 0 to 100 Km/h the sedan can do it in 4.8 seconds while the Avant is 0.1 seconds slower at 4.9 seconds.
Top speed is limited to 250 Km/h and in terms of efficiency the S6 sedan returns 9.7-litres per 100 Km (24.3 mpg US rating) while the Avant does 9.8-litres (24 mpg / US rating).
Just like the S7, the 2012 Audi S6 and S6 Avant comes with upgraded brakes (ceramic brakes are optional), the automaker’s adaptive air suspension, and a series of sportier looking body components that include new alloy wheels, redesigned bumpers and new side skirts.
Sales for the 2012 Audi S6 and S6 Avant will commence next year, with pricing details yet to be announced.
