Another future model teased by the Ingolstadt based automaker through a set of drawings is the 2012 Audi R8 GT Spyder.
According
to the British press, the 2012 Audi R8 GT Spyder will extract its juice
from the same 5.2-litre V10 engine currently offered in the hard top
version, so this meas a total of 552 bp and 398 lb-ft of torque. Top
speed however will be a bit lower, at 193 mph, due to car’s new drag
coefficient.
Also, just like the coupe, the 2012 Audi R8 GT Spyder
is expected to be available in limited numbers – a total of 333 to be
exact out of which 33 will be heading to the UK. So you might ask
yourself what is so special about this new variant besides the fact that
it misses its roof.
Well the R8 GT Spyder has undergone a weight
saving program, and due to the fact that it features a fixed rear wing,
modified brake calipers, a thinner windshield, and a series of other
improvements, it has shaved off a total of 95 Kg.
Also the
exterior is distinguished by the new front splitter and the carbon
blades places on the corners of the front bumper, while the interior
will feature new instrument graphics, new door sills, a new gear shifter
and various other enhancements.
Public debut for the 2012 Audi R8 GT Spyder will take place at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show
