Audi has officially unveiled the facelifted A4 sedan and its derivatives, the A4 Avant, the A4 Allroad and the S4.
You’ll
find a huge photo gallery along with a few videos available below the
jump, but before you check them out, we’ll put into writing some of the
things that have been improved on this refreshed generation.
Visually
speaking the 2012 Audi A4 facelift comes with sharper looking
headlights and taillights that incorporate the LED technology, a new
grille, revised bumpers and new alloy designs. The cars are also
aavailable with new body colours (a total of 15 paint finishes) while at
the interior the automaker has added a new flat bottom design steering
wheel, a modified steering arm, new colours and a new ignition key.
These
visual changes translated into minor modifications in terms of
dimensions so the 2012 Audi A4 Sedan and Avant measure 4.70 meters
(15.42 ft) in length, while the A4 Allroad Quattro and the S4 are now
4.72 meters (15.49 ft) long. All models have a wheelbase of 2.81 meters
(9.22 ft), a width of 1.83 and 1.84 meters (6.0 and 6.04 ft) and a
height that varies between 1.41 and 1.50 meters (4.63 and 4.92 ft)
depending on body shape.
The engines that are now available for the
2012 Audi A4 facelift are more powerful yet around 11 percent
friendlier to the environment. These include a total of 6 TDI diesels
and four gasoline plants, all supercharged, with direct injection,
start-stop systems and also with energy recuperation systems.
Among
them customers will find a 2.0-litre TDI that can produce 136 HP or 163
HP, three four-cylinder diesels rated at either 88 kW (120 hp), 105 kW
(143 hp) or 130 kW (177 hp) and two 3.0-litre TDIs generating 150 kW
(204 hp) and 180 kW (245 hp).
The gasoline burning plants for the
new A4 include the entry-level 1.8 TFSI with 88 kW (120 hp), a new 1.8
TFSI generating 125 kW (170 HP and 320 Nm of torque) and a 2.0 TFSI that
outputs 155 kW (211 HP). The petrol range will also include a 3.0 TFSI
V6 rated at 200 kW (272 HP).
As for the 2012 Audi S4 facelift, in
this case power both the Sedan and Avant version will be extracted from a
3.0 TFSI V6 delivering 245 kW (333 hp) and 440
Nm (324.53 lb-ft) torque, which will enable 0 to 100 Km/h acceleration
times of 5.0 seconds (in the sedan) and fuel consumption figures of 8.0
L/100 km (29.4 mpg US /
35.3 mpg UK).
The standard gearbox on the facelift versions Audi A4 Sedan and Avant is a 6-speed manual, with options including a continuously variable multitronic. The all-wheel-drive quattro variants can optionally be equipped with a 7-speed S tronic double-clutch while the A4 Allroad Quattro will be offered with either a manual or an S tronic.
The 2012 Audi A4 price starts at 35,425 Euro for the 2.0 TFSI, meaning a 475 Euro increase over the previous version.
