Volkswagen has announced today that their Osnabrück facility will begin building the Porsche Cayenne starting next summer. Citing high demand, the German car manufacturer will invest €25 ($33.8) million into their plant to ensure it can deliver 20.000 Porsche Cayenne units per year.

"Optimization of the existing factory capacity and the agreed assembly of the Porsche Cayenne in Osnabrück underlines the high degree of flexibility within the [Volkswagen] Group wide production network and is simultaneously for the good cooperation between Volkswagen and Porsche", said Volkswagen in the official statement.

As you already know, this isn't the first Porsche which roll off the Osnabrück assembly line. Currently the same factory is assembling the Boxster and Cayman. However, production of the latter two models will be "gradually shifted back" to Porsche starting at the end of 2016.
