Volkswagen is going to introduce the all new Golf R 400 Concept during this weekend Beijing Motor Show. The first sketches show an aggresive concept version, equipped with a sporty bodykit.

As the name suggests, the Golf R 400 is an extreme concept version of the Golf R hatchback, with power climbing from 300 to 400 hp.

The engine modifications used to increase power are rounded by exterior modifications, including body and bumper changes, flared wheelarches, uprated wheels and a reworked interior that includes sportive shell seats with belt openings.

The wheelarches are bigger, deliberately reminding of those first seen on the 1988 Rallye Golf G60. The concept is painted in ‘Silver Flake’ metallic, in contrast to the gloss black roof and carbon door mirror caps.

Lemon Yellow colour can be seen on the outside across the grille (which, like the chrome strip on the Golf R, continues into the bi-xenon headlights). The same colour is also used for the interior stitching.

As a first for a Golf series model, the four-wheel drive, DSG-equipped Golf R 400 promises 0 to 100 km/h time of just 3.9 seconds one second quicker than the standard Golf R. The top speed reaches 174 mph.

The Golf R 400 is only a concept and will remain like this.
