With only a month until first BMW i8 units will reach dealers and clients, the German manufacturer published a new movie that details the lightweight structure of the supercar.
Using a carbon fiber reinforced plastic, passenger cell, the new i8 can offer space for four passengers in a 2+2 seating configuration. It uses a hybrid powertrain, consisting in a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder gasoline TwinPower Turbo engine and an electric motor.
The total power is rated at 362 HP (266 kW) and 420 lb-ft (570 Nm) of torque. Even so, the total weight of the car is just 1490 kilograms. This is enough to improve the performance and efficiency.
