Toyota has unveiled the 2013 Corolla Furia Concept at the Detroit Auto Show, and as the officials put it, the car "hints at the styling cues consumers can expect to see" on the next-generation of its North American market compact sedan.

"The Corolla Furia Concept is an early indicator of where our compact car design may lead in the future. It blends a heightened emphasis on dramatic design and modern elements of high technology to generate curb appeal that will surprise a lot of people", said Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager of the Toyota Division.

The concept has a surprisingly futuristic headlights and front end with a blacked-out lower air intake, slim LED headlamps, and steeply raked.

The rear diffuser with integrated chrome exhaust finishers give the Furia a sporty appearance, while the 19-inch alloy wheels are pushed to the corners to help add visual width.

In terms of size The Corolla Furia Concept is 4,620 mm (181.9 in) long, 1,805 mm (71 in) wide and 1,425 mm (56.1 in) high, and sports a relatively long 2,700 mm (106.3 in) wheelbase. This means that the Furia is only about two inches longer and wider as compared with the current Corolla. Also the new concept sits lower and has a wheelbase that is almost four inches longer.

No powertrain details have been released, but we would expect the next-generation Corolla to be powered by a four-cylinder engine.
