One of the latest rumors says the connection between Toyota and Tesla will give birth to two new EV models and these are speculated to be the Toyota RAV4 electric and the Lexus RX electric.
The reason why the Toyota RAV4 and the Lexus RX were chosen is because these would both be able to sustain the battery pack’s weight, and when talking about the two future prototypes, Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk said they will have better range and acceleration than any EV competitors in the same class.
The Toyota RAV4 electric is probably going to get build at the NUMMI plant, and this would be a separate project from Tesla’s own EV supermini which is scheduled to be launched in 2012.
