A 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti will be auctioned in early February during the Artcurial Motorcars Salon Retromobile. And this is a big thing because the car could smash all-time auction records.

Pre-auction statistics estimates that the 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider could sell for between €28 million and €32 million ($30-34 million in the States). A $38 million Ferrari 250 GTO is the actual record holder for the most expensive car sold at auction.

This 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider is chassis type 520/B was developed to dominate the racing courses. Originally it had a four-cam 3.8-liter V12 engine and competed in the Sebring 12 Hours. After that, the unit was replaced with a 4.1-liter V12 engine with 400 hp. After this important modification the car competed in the Le Mans 24 Hours, driven by Mike Hawthorn and Luigi Musso.

Even though there was an engine problem, this 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider managed to become the first car to ever lap the Le Mans track at an average speed of over 200 km/h. It the following years, the 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider competed in the Kristianstad 6 Hours in Sweden, the Venezuelan Grand Prix, Cuban Grand Prix and Road America 500. 

Another important fact is that Sir Stirling Moss get behind the wheel of this car and this is why the value will grow in the auction market.
