The Defender is dead. Long live the Defender because the Jaguar Land Rover will deliver a new generation of this impressive model in 2018. The new Land Rover Defender will be out in 2018 and it will be sold as a 2019MY.

But the replacement of the Defender won’t have anything in common with the concepts that we have seen in recent years. At least this is the promise made by company’s director, Gerry McGovern. He also said the model will look like a modern Defender.

According to the same sources, the new Land Rover Defender whant’s to be made in 100.000 units per year and the company plans to come with five different body styles: two two-door models, a four-door long wheelbase, along with two- and four-door pickup derivatives.

Unfortunately for the off-road lovers, the new Defender will appeal to a higher customer base. The new Defender line-up will be positioned between the Discovery and Range Rover. The new model will try to keep its rugged design but it won’t be as hardcore as the outgoing model.
