Opel has officially unveiled the 2017 Opel Insignia Grand Sport. As you already know, the German model will be showcased during the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and will be available starting next summer. On the design side, the new German model is heavily influenced by the Monza concept that we have seen in 2013.

According to Opel, the new Insignia Grand Sport is 175 kilograms lighter than the previous generation and has a wheelbase longer with 92 mm. As a result, all the passengers will have more room.

And because we have named the interior, we should tell you something about it. It features a frameless display in the center console. It features the IntelliLink multimedia system which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is also an HUD display and some premium materials.

On the safety side, the new Insignia Grand Sport will feature rear cross traffic alert system capable of detecting objects coming from as much as 20 meters, while the lane keep assist will come bundled with lane departure warning.

For now we don't have any info about the engine lineup but we can assure you that the new Opel Insignia Grand Sport will feature diesel and petrol units with 4 cylinders.

“Opel once again lands a major coup with the new Insignia Grand Sport. Our new flagship takes all of the highly acclaimed virtues of its successful brother, the Astra, to a higher level. No other car in the Insignia class can boast as many ultra-modern technologies. We made it light, agile and fantastic to drive. And our designers gave it an exceptional combination of elegance and athleticism that even cars from upper classes and prices will envy. The new Insignia really reaches new heights. It is a Grand Sport in the best sense of the word,” said Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann.
