Tesla Model X Crossover Revealed

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors has unveiled the new Tesla X crossover during a small media event held at the company's design studio in California last night.

The Tesla X represents the third model in Tesla's lineup, and in this case we are talking about a vehicle based on the Model S platform which will be offered with a 60 or 85 kWh battery.

Due to its increased weight however the Model X will not have the same range as the Model S which means the vehicle's single charge range has dropped by around 10 percent, but the car will still be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph pretty darn fast (less than 5 seconds).

The Tesla X is related to the Tesla S in terms of design as well, especially at the front, but there are also a few major differences as well, one of them being the rear gullwing doors which is a feature that remind us of the Delorean or the more modern SLS.

At the interior the Tesla X can accommodate up to seven adults due to its 2+3+2 seating configuration plus the car come with two luggage compartments, one at the rear and one at the front when normally the engine engine should be.

During the unveiling of the Model X, Elon Musk has also reported that a fourth model is going the join the company's model range by 2014.

Production for the Tesla X will start in late 2013 and the first cutomer deliveris will happen in 2014.
