The Suzuki Swift is one of the most successful compact cars on the market. When the Japanese car manufacturers launched Swift nine years ago in 2004, it didn't expect such a positive response.

Throughout its lifespan, the Swift has managed to retain all the attributes that made it such a big hit. When you combine its rather stylish looks with the Japanese quality craftsmanship, excellent performance and efficiency… it's easy to see why the Swift is still a resounding success in 2013.  

The Suzuki Motor Corporation has revealed that the Swift has surpassed a significant landmark – three million units have been sold worldwide. This excellent news comes exactly two years since the car makers were celebrating sale number two million.
Suzuki Swift Passes 3 Million Sales Since 2004

The Swift is a global car, initially built in Japan, it has gone on to the production lines in Hungary, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.  It's not just worldwide production that has helped this supermini achieve success; it has also been a favourite with consumers around the globe.

Suzuki's hit compact car is on the road is 125 countries around the world, but most of the Swift's sales are made in India (45%). Europe is a close second with 23%, with Japan only accounting for 13%.

The UK is big fan of the Swift, with 80,000 of those three million units have been sold right here in the UK since its launch in May 2005, accounting for 36% of all Suzuki’s sold in the UK.

Swift's global success is down to a number of contributing factors, such as its spacious interior, edgy design, modern accessories, low CO2 emissions and cheap running costs, but that’s not all consumers are interested in.

There are also a few choices for consumers, whether they prefer the budget-friendly 1.3 litre turbodiesel with a 67.3mpg combined, up to the speedy 1.2 litre petrol that does 0-62mph in less than 13 seconds.

Another major plus for the Swift is its 5* NCAP rating. The latest Swift model, launched in 2010, managed to impress with its NCAP score, particularly as its 94 points for Adult protection was the highest of any vehicle tested at the time.  It also achieved 92% for children, 62% for pedestrians and 71% for safety assist.
