Offered with just a gasoline engine in the UK, the current Ssangyong Tivoli, another rival for the Nissan Juke and Renault Captur, had to offer its clients a diesel option. It is the right choice for most Brits who want efficiency.

The newly developed e-XDi160 diesel engine produces 115ps/3,400 – 4,000rpm max power with 300 Nm/1,500 – 2,500 rpm. Both the diesel and petrol engines comply with the Euro 6 emission standard. The 1.6 litre diesel engine achieves a CO² emission level of just 113g/km (2-wheel drive, manual transmission).

Two transmissions are offered, a 6-speed manual and Aisin 6-speed automatic. In terms of economy, Tivoli diesel achieves up to 65.7mpg on the Combined Cycle with manual transmission, and 51.4mpg for the automatic.

The range comprises three main model options: SE, EX and ELX, while for those who want further individualisation, the My Tivoli programme offers a wide number of further choices.

The Tivoli SE starts from £14,200 (diesel), and is finished in a smart grey cloth trim, it includes 16 inch alloy wheels, cruise control, a stop/go system (petrol), smart steering (normal, comfort and sport modes), an RDS/Bluetooth radio and seven airbags.
