Land Rover tries to promote the new Range Rover Sport SVR, the fastest and more powerful Range Rover ever produced, and until September, the fastest SUV on the Nurburgring. The title was stolen by BMW X6 M, only a month after.

To better promote the SVR first product, Land Rover launched a special film, shoot on the Rockingham circuit. The images show JLR Chief Engineer of Vehicle Integrity, Mike Cross, offering some info about the cars drivetrain and four-wheel drive technology.

Engine

The British SUV uses a modified 5.0 liter V8 engine, delivering 550 hp and 680 Nm. This is 40 hp and 55 Nm more than the standard supercharged version of the Range Rover Sport.

Drivetrain

With the help of a ZF 8HP70 eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive chassis, the Range Rover Sport SVR can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.

To cope with that power, the SUV uses a permanent four-wheel drive and a two-speed transfer case, with a low-range option for demanding terrain, and a 50/50 percent torque split front-to-rear. To optimize traction and stability, the Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential has been recalibrated. Torque Vectoring is also uniquely recalibrated.
