The German sports car manufacturer is introducing a new powerplant option for the Porsche Panamera, which is a 3.6-litre V6.

This new 3.6-litre V6 unit is able to output 300 bhp (220 kW) and 400 Nm of torque and will equip the Panamera and Panamera 4 versions that will debut at this year's Beijing Motor Show on April 23.

As far as efficiency the V6 Porsche Panamera and Panamera 4 will be needing less that 10 litres of fuel per 100 Km, also due to the fact that both models feature the Porsche Double-Clutch Gearbox and anAuto Start Stop system.

CO2 emission levels are at 213 g/Km for the Panamera and 220 g/Km for the Panamera 4 which means the Euro 5 standards are fulfilled.

The Porsche Panamera V6 price starts at 63,600 Euro while the Panamera 4 version fitted with PDK goes on stale starting at 70,500 Euro. Both models will hit the US market in June 2010.

Porsche press release :

Stuttgart. Following the successful start ofthe Panamera into the market, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart,is rapidly expanding the range of models available: Starting in May2010, both the Panamera and the Panamera 4 will be at the dealership asthe new entry-level versions leading into Porsche’s Gran Turismo modelseries.

Both models are powered by a brand-new 3.6-litre V6featuring Direct Fuel Injection and developing

maximum output of 300bhp (220 kW) plus peak torque of
400 Nm/295 lb-ft. FollowingPorsche’s nomenclature, the Panamera transmits its power to the roadvia the rear wheels, while the Panamera 4 comes as standard with activeall-wheel drive.

The two new versions of Porsche’s GranTurismo are convincing examples of the Porsche Intelligent Performanceconsistent development strategy. Equipped with PDKPorsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (Porsche Double-Clutch Gearbox) andAuto Start Stop, both models consume far less than 10 litres of fuel on100 kilometres in the New European Driving Cycle: The Panamera makes dowith a mere 9.3 litres/100 kilometres (equal to 30.4 mpg imp), thePanamera 4 averages 9.6 litres/100 kilometres, equal to 29.4 mpg imp.Nineteen-inch all-year tyres with optimised roll resistance availableas an option reduce these consumption figures by another 0.2 litres/100kilometres, giving the Panamera a CO2 rating of just 213 g/km, thePanamera 4 an equally impressive 220 g/km. Both V6 versions of thePanamera fulfil the strict EU5 emission standard in Europe and the LEVstandard in the United States.

Superior economy and performancetypical of the brand do not rule out each other on these new V6 GranTurismos. On the contrary – the ideal combination of these qualities isattributable to consistent lightweight construction as one particularhighlight, with the axles, doors, engine compartment lid, wings and therear lid all made either of aluminium or a combination of aluminium andmagnesium. At the same time the brand-new V6 power unit built atPorsche’s engine plant in Zuffenhausen and boasting a 90o cylinderangle is approximately 30 kg or 66 lb lighter than the eight-cylinderfeatured in the Panamera S and 4S, thus contributing to the low overallweight of the Panamera of just 1,730 kg or 3,815 lb.

Like theproven V8 models, both the Panamera and the Panamera 4, as genuine GranTurismos, combine sporting character with a high standard of comfortand everyday driving qualities. Apart from the regular steel suspensionavailable as an option with variable dampers, adaptive air suspensionwith additional air volume is also available on request. This providesa very wide range of suspension qualities and features extending froman even higher level of motoring comfort at one end all the way toextremely sporting driving dynamics at the other.

The Panameraand Panamera 4 will be making their world debut at the Beijing MotorShow as of 23 April 2010. Both models will be entering the Germanmarket in May 2010 and are scheduled to enter the US market in June.

Pricesstart at Euro 75,899.- including value-added tax and nationalspecifications for the Panamera (base price in the Euro countries Euro63,600.-), while the Panamera 4 fitted as standard with PDKPorsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe retails at Euro 84,110.- including VATand national specifications (base price Euro 70,500.-).
