Nissan is extending the 2015 Qashqai range with the introduction of a more powerful petrol unit. We are talking about the current 1.6 DIG-T turbocharged unit, available on other Nissan models with 150 hp.

The compact crossover is also known as the Rogue in the states and Dualis in Japan and Australia.

Engine

Under the Qashqai’s bonnet we will find more power, rated at 163 hp and available at 5600 rpm. The engine torque is capped at 240 Nm and is delivered with maximum effect between 2000 and 4000 rpm.

As with all engines in the new Qashqai range, the new DIG-T 163 is equipped with Start/Stop ignition system. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) can be achieved in just 9.1 seconds, which makes it the fastest Qashqai in the range. Top speed is rated at 199 km/h (124 mph).

Fuel Economy

The Japanese crossover is also quite frugal. When equipped with the new engine, can return from 4.8 l/100km (48.7 mpg) on the EU Combined cycle, while CO2 emissions are from 134g/km for models equipped with 16" and 17" wheels, and 138g/km for models equipped with 18" and 19" wheels.

Production

The new engine is available only with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox.
