The Nissan Hi-Cross has premiered at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show today, so here are the official photos and presentation video for the future crossover proposal that could mark a new styling direction for the Japanese brand.
Through the Hi-Cross, Nissan contemplates on expanding the Juke-Qashqai-Murano portfolio, with the concept featuring a hybrid petrol/electric power train, the latest generation CVT transmission and a roomy interior that provides seating for seven via a 3-row layout.
The Hi-Cross’s hybrid drive train is composed from an electric motor powered by a Nissan developed lithium-ion battery and a 2.0-litre direct injection petrol engine that offers the performance potential of a 2.5-litre but with the economy and emissions figures of a much smaller unit.
Andy Palmer, Executive Vice President, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., said:
"Nissan created the crossover segment with Murano and has expanded the
genre with top selling cars like Qashqai and Juke. Hi-Cross Concept
shows we are not sitting still, resting on our laurels, but exploring
ways of cementing our crossover leadership by exploring new ideas."
The Nissan Hi-Cross measures 4,660 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,670 mm in height, sits on a 2,780 mm long wheelbase and 21 inch alloys, and its styling combines existent Nissan design cues with new elements such as the stylish new headlamps and rear combination lamps.
