Nissan unveiled the e-NV200 Concept today in Detroit, an advanced electric vehicle based on the NV200 van.
The e-NV200 previews a near-future production version model which will provide a flexible and roomy interior combined with a comfortable driving experience and zero tailpipe emissions. The exterior of the Nissan e-NV200 has borrowed certain cues from the LEAF EV, while under its skin the vehicle features a powertrain comprising from a lithium-ion battery pack composed from 48 compact modules and a high-response 80kW AC synchronous motor generating 280 Nm of torque.
This motor uses a single-speed transmission to send its power to the front wheels, and unfortunately this is pretty much everything we know about this electric van at this point, due to the fact that Nissan did not specify its driving range yet.
The regular NV200 will begin its role as New York City’s designated yellow can from 2013, so the e-NV200 could represent Nissan’s New York ‘taxi of the future’.
