Porsche fans this is your lucky day. Why am I saying this? Because Andreas Preuninger, head of Porsche’s GT program, said that the next generation Porsche 911 GT3 will be offered with a manual gearbox.

As you already know, the current generation can be had only with a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch PDK transmission. Yes we do know that the PDK works fine with the race track but where is the spirit?

"The Porsche 911 GT3 “is full of systems that make sense on the track, but for the purist, there may be something lost. It is our long-term goal to have the customer decide between the two approaches", said Andreas Preuninger in an interview for Car and Driver.

As for the upcoming manual transmission we do know for sure that won’t be the same gearbox used in the actual Carrera models.

To prove us that the company is still thinking of its clients, Porsche will soon launch a 911 R. It will have the same engines as the 911 GT3 RS but it will be matted to an manual transmission.
