As you probably know, Audi engineers are working to develop the next-generation of the Q7, a car that has been already spotted a few times during tests. Although the car was hidden under the skin of the current model, this time, it was seen wearing almost no disguise.

Thanks to these photos, some change can be seen at the rear where the SUV features a new exhaust system with two rather unattractive pipes, which means that the next Q7 will be offered with a new range of engines with reduced CO2 emissions.

The next Audi Q7 will be developed on a stretched version of the MLB platform. In other words, the SUV’s total weight will be reduced by about 350 kilos (770 pounds), from the current model’s 5,000-pound curb weight.

Also, in order to achieve this weight loss the engineers will probably use a combination of carbon fiber and aluminum. Carbon fiber will be used in the Q7’s body, but this improvement will definitely increase the car price.
