MINI has revamped its Cooper, Clubman and Cabrio models, offering a fresh aspect for 2011, together with a series of equipment upgrades and more fuel efficient power plants. The MINI Cooper, Clubman and Cabrio facelift will now come available with the 1.6-litre diesel engine found on the BMW 116d, which means CO2 emissions will go under 100 grams per Km. On the 2011 MINI Cooper which will be offered as the 90 HP One D or the 112 HP Cooper D fuel efficiency figures indicate that only 3.8 litres are needed per100 kilometres (74.3 mpg imp)with CO2emissions of 99 g/km. With this BMW sourced engine there are 9.7 seconds needed to go from 0 to 62 mph in the 2011 MINI Cooper D, while its top speed is 122 mph. As for the Clubman and Cabrio versions their CO2 emission figures are 103 and 104 grams per Km. At the exterior the MINI Cooper, Clubman and Cabrio facelift come with new chrome inserts, an improved front bumper in terms of aerodynamics and LED taillights while some of the features at the interior include new colour seats and trim, an upgraded audio system and also an enhanced MINI Connected system. The four-cylinder diesel units stand out withtheir greater pulling power, efficiency and smoothness –qualities developed on the back of the BMW Group’s outstandingexpertise in the field of engine development. Added to which,far-reaching MINIMALISM technology helps to reduce fuel consumptionand emissions. The new MINI One D (66 kW/90 hp) and newMINI Cooper D (82 kW/112 hp) set a new benchmark inefficiency with average fuel consumption of 3.8 litres per100 kilometres (74.3 mpg imp) in the EU5 test cycle and CO2emissions of 99 g/km. The variety within the model range isbroadened further by the new MINI One D Clubman and the new MINICooper D Convertible, the first ever open-top MINI with a diesel engine. The modified design of the MINI, MINI Clubman and MINI Convertibleaccurately showcases the increased sporting potential of the threemodels through a number of details. At the same time, a selection ofclever touches, together with new wheel variants, paint finishes andoptional extras, accentuate both the elegance and premium character ofthe MINI family. The new geometry of the front bumper on each modelallows them to meet increasingly stringent pedestrian protectionrequirements even more effectively. All models come with LEDs for therear lights and brake lights, as well as the dynamic brake light function. Inside the cars, the newly designed controls for the audio and airconditioning systems ensure optimised functionality and ergonomics.The cutting-edge exclusivity of the interior is further underlined byextremely harmonious colours and high-quality materials. Themodel-specific selection of seat upholstery, trim elements and ColourLines has also been extensively updated. An array of new exterior paint finishes and wheel designs isavailable for the MINI, MINI Clubman and MINI Convertible tocomplement their refreshed styling. Chili Red is now available –exclusively for the MINI John Cooper Works and MINI John Cooper WorksClubman – as a contrast colour for the roof and exterior mirrorcaps. Meanwhile, three “design worlds” – Rally,Classic and Scene – have been introduced to underpinconfigurations tailored to the customer’s personal style. Eachcomprises a carefully coordinated combination of body paint finish,roof colour, wheel design, upholstery, trim elements, Colour Line andother visual features. The design worlds represent a recommendationfrom the MINI design team and lend the car an extremely coherentcharacter. Additional – and almost limitless –customisation can be achieved by varying the individual components ofeach design world and by adding further equipment items andaccessories to the mix. All models come with innovative equipment features aimed at enhancingcomfort, safety and the trademark MINI personality. For example, theoptional xenon headlights can be ordered with black headlightreflectors or the Adaptive Headlights function, while an automaticdimming function is available for both the rear-view and exteriormirrors, and the optional ambient lighting uses a trio of LEDs toprovide a broad spectrum of colour. The MINI Clubman is now fittedwith a new retractable roller-type luggage compartment cover. The new audio and navigation systems and the integration devices forexternal music players and mobile phones both offer top-classentertainment and communications capability. All the radio systemscome with an MP3-compatible CD player and an AUX IN connection, whilethe MINI Visual Boost radio and MINI navigation system team up with ahigh-resolution colour display in the Centre Speedo and a Bluetoothhands-free system complete with USB audio interface. This allows videofiles stored on a compatible Apple iPod to be viewed on the on-boardmonitor. If the customer has ordered their car with the Bluetoothmobile phone preparation including USB interface, both systems can behooked up with compatible mobile devices to allow functions such asaudio streaming via Bluetooth, album cover artwork display andinnovative office functions.
