Mercedes has the chance to endeavour an 125 year-old dream of building a boat. Starting next year, Mercedes Benz will get the opportunity to launch its own creation, build beyond the automotive world ideas.
The german car manufacturer confirmed that will launch a 46 foot long Granturismo yacht, built with the help of UK-based Silver Arrows Marine company.
Their first experiment was already showcased at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show.”Giving shape to a boat was an exciting challenge for automotive designers like we are,” said Gorden Wagener, Head of Design Mercedes-Benz Cars, during the presentation of the yacht’s design in Monaco.
It has to be the pride of building an old idea, originated by German co-founder, Gottlieb Daimler.
Mercedes-Benz states that its designers were in charge of the yacht’s ”layout and use of space” as well as ”shaping the exterior and interior and choosing materials and color combinations”. On the other hand, Silver Arrows marine had to ensure the building process and the technical equipment.
According to Mercedes, the yacht is going to serve as an ideal solution for ”a day on the water with friends and for overnight accommodations.”
