Mercedes announces some important modifications for the C-Class range, a model that need to get ready for a confrontation with the future generation of Audi A4, scheduled to be launched this fall. 

Mercedes C-Class 4Matic

The premium car will be available in the C200 4MATIC and C220 d 4MATIC versions, which have a four-wheel drive system. The petrol variant comes with a 2.0-liter engine with 184 HP (135 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft), while the diesel offers a 2.1-liter unit with 170 HP (125 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft).

New Mercedes C300

Customers will also have a new, more powerful top end version: the new C300, that becomes the most powerful 4-cylinder modification with its 2.0-liter 245 HP (180 kW) powerplant. It can accelerate from a standing start to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds (6.1 seconds for the Estate). Despite this the C300 consumes just 6.3 litres of fuel over 100 kilometres (6.4 litres for the Estate).

Mercedes C450 AMG

Together with this new versions, Mercedes also details the new C450 AMG model, that uses a From a displacement of 2996 cubic centimetres and delivers an output of 367 hp and a torque of up to 520 newton metres. The sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes just 4.9 seconds (5.0 seconds for the Estate). Its combined fuel consumption stands at 7.6 litres per 100 kilometres (7.7 litres for the Estate).
The new list of modifications will also include a more advanced head-up display to compete with that found on BMW models. The car also features a touchpad, more systems that will assist the driver and a heated steering wheel.
