Wanting to benefit from Chinese affection for roomy cars, Mercedes unveiled its long wheelbase C Class during this week Beijing Auto China 2014. The new variant is called Mercedes C Class L, an abbreviation from long wheelbase.
The stretched version is built exclusively for the Chinese market and also produced in China with the help of BAIC, another local partner of Mercedes. The new model has a bigger wheelbase, which has grown by 80 mm compared to the standard model.
The C Class L measures 4766 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2920 mm. With this much room, the passengers will enjoy the best-in-class legroom, as Mercedes states in its press release. To ensure the entry and exit of passengers, the front passenger seat can be electrically adjustable from the rear.
Also on the rear seats, the passengers have a privacy glass, and extended by 25 millimeters rear seat provides. The car also offers controls for the infotainment system and a touchpad that recognizes Chinese characters.
The stretched C Class is offered with two different versions: Sedan and Sport Sedan.
While the first offers classic feeling, with Mercedes star on the hood, the second one carries the grille with a central star as well as an AMG bodykit. This includes AMG front apron with sporty air intakes, AMG side skirts and AMG rear apron with diffuser in body color.
