McLaren continues to tease the launch of its new entry-level model, called McLaren Sports Series. This time, the British manufacturer unveiled the carbon fiber monocoque of its future supercar. Positioned below the current 650S, which was introduced last year during Geneva Motor Show, the new sports car has an internal codename known as P13.

As you would expect from a company that has an immense heritage in Formula 1, McLaren will use some technology found in its racing cars. Among this we will find a carbon fibre chassis and mid-mounted V8 engine.

In the official press release, the British manufacturer explains: "A carbon fiber chassis has been at the heart of all McLaren race and road cars since 1981 when we pioneered the technology in Formula 1. This DNA will be present in the McLaren Sports Series with its unique carbon chassis – a true McLaren for the sports car enthusiast."

If you remember, the first Sports Series teaser showed us a camouflaged body, with a door opening. The car will inherit the butterfly opening of its older brothers, the P1 and the 650S. This means it will also feature carbon fiber body.

The supercar will be capable of reaching a top speed of under 300 km/h (186 mph) and sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under four seconds. The price is already estimated at around 200.000 euro.

The car will be launched this April, during New York Auto Show.
