During the first press day at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, Honda had unveiled the AC-X Concept, just the first of a total of three concepts that will be showcased in the Japanese capital.
The AC-X is an abbreviation from "Advanced Cruiser Experience" and is a plug-in hybrid sedan powered by a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine and two electric motors that aims at making urban and long-distance motoring less stressful.
The Honda AC-X has a drag coefficient of just 0.21 due to to various elements that also include transparent wheel covers, and even though the automaker didn't not really get into details, they say this car can ride in the "Automatic Drive Mode" which basically means the jet-fighter style "steering wheel" retracts into the dashboard while the driver and passengers can sit back and relax.
Honda claims the AC-X will be able to cover around 50 Km by using just electricity, and that its top speed in EV mode is 100 Km/h.
