Hennessey Performance is celebrating its 25th anniversary and they have announced that the Venom GT Spyder managed to set a new speed world record. The official statement will be made on Monday April 11th but the teaser video is suggesting that the car managed to beat the previous 270.4 miles per hour record.

That record was set at the Kennedy Space Center in 2014. For now, nothing is official but we do know that last year, during the 2015 SEMA Motor Show, the guy from Hennessey Performance have revealed an updated version of the Venom GT Spyder.

The car had a modified biturbo 7.0-liter V8 engine which can run on E85 Flexfuel. As a result, the boost pressure was increased from 19 pounds per square inch to 26 psi. The V8 engine can deliver 1.451 horsepower, 207 horsepower more than the previous version and the not to 60 mph sprint can be done in 2.4 seconds. The top speed is clocked at over 280 mph.
