General Motors has announced that more than 1 million trucks sold globally will be recalled. They said there is a big problem with the seat belts on the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra model. In the United States, 895,232 vehicles are affected while 142,750 cars were sold in Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the Middle East.

According to General Motors the flexible steel cable that connects the seat belt to the vehicle can fatigue and separate over time as a result of the driver repeatedly bending the cable when entering the seat. As a result, the seat belts can simply break off.

GM discovered this problem through warranty data and until now there weren’t reported no rashes, injuries, or fatalities.

In order to fix this problem, the mechanics will enlarge the side shield opening, install a pusher bracket on the tensioner, and if necessary, replace the tensioner assembly.

All the customers will be notified by GM. If you want to check for yourself if the car is affected by this recall you can enter the vehicle identification number on https://my.gm.com/web/portal/ownercente.
