The results for the International Engine of the Year 2013 are here. The judge offered this special award to the Ford EcoBoost 1.0 liter three cylinder unit. 

Beside the overall award there are eleven more categories. At the Best Performance Engine the winner was Ferrari’s 6.3 liter V12 engine. The same engine won as well as best power unit over 4.0 liters. The Green Engine of the Year 2013 was Fiat’s 0.8 liter two cylinder turbocharged CNG unit. 

One of the biggest losers was BMW. The German car maker lost the 2.5 liter to 3.0 liter class and the 3.0 liter to 4.0 liter category. 

International Engine of the Year – Ford 1.0 liter EcoBoost

Best New Engine – Volkswagen 1.4 liter TSI ACT

Green Engine of the Year – Fiat 0.8 liter two cylinder turbo CNG

Category 1.0 liter to 1.4 liter – Volkswagen 1.4 liter TSI Twincharger

Category 1.4 liter to 1.8 liter – BMW-PSA 1.6 liter turbo petrol

Category 1.8 liter to 2 liter – BMW 2 liter twin-turbo four cylinder

Category 2 liter to 2.5 liter – Audi 2.5 liter turbo

Category 2.5 liter to 3 liter – Porsche 2.7 liter DI

Category 3 liter to 4 liter – McLaren 3.8 liter V8

Above 4 liter – Ferrari 6.3 liter V12
