There is no logical explanation why one would fit a Viper engine into a pickup truck. The Dodge Ram 392 Quick Silver exists only because it is the best sleeper one can get, and its price tag is also quite reasonable. The guys at Mopar, together with the SRT built the Ram 392 Quick Silver concept to present it at the 2012 SEMA show.

Because mass production isn’t anywhere in sight, the Ram 392 Quick Silver is likely to remain a concept. However, Motor Trend managed to get its hands on it, and wrote a small drive test about the single cab, short-bed Ram with an SRT engine under the bonnet.

The engine is the most important part of the Dodge Ram 392 Quick Silver. The 392-cubic-inch V-8 is capable of pumping out 470-hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, more then enough to provide dragster-like accelerations to the small pickup truck. Mopar added a few interesting details to the car, like a cold-air intake and custom headers. The Dodge Ram 392 Quick Silver also features a modified Mopar 3.0-inch exhaust with electrically actuated cutouts and dual 5.0-inch tips.

The power is brought to the asphalt through a stock six-speed automatic featuring high-stall torque converter and a 4.10:1 rear end. The natural habitat of the Dodge Ram 392 Quick Silver is the dragstrip, where it can hit 60 mph from a stop in just 5.2 seconds and ran the quarter mile in 13.7 seconds at 101.2 mph.

While the Ram 392 Quick Silver is likely to remain a concept, enthusiasts can build their own versions relatively simply. There are suitable engines all around at relatively good prices, and the Dodge Ram itself is also cheap: a base V-8 Ram ST costs only $24,175. All in all the price of a home-built Dodge Ram 392 Quick Silver might not be more than $41,000, a bargain for a car with this kind of performance.
