GM took its new ZL1 at the Camaro Homecoming Event in Oshawa, Canada,
where the brand’s fans could actually touch the car and see what this
high-performance coupe is all about in person.
Chief Engineer Al Oppenheiser did not miss the opportunity of
presenting this Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 before the car will go into
production in the first quarter of 2012, and for those who need a
reminder, this beefed up version Camaro will feature an 6.2-litre LSA V8
beneath its metal sheet which will unleash a ‘minium’ of 550 horses and
550 lb-ft of torque.
The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1’s appearance has
been enhanced with aerodynamic components designed in the wind tunnel,
and apart from a front spoiler lip, new rocker panels, and a redesigned
rear diffuser, the car has also received a carbon fiber extractor on
the hood and a rear spoiler, all of which help increase overall
downforce.
The wheels and tires on this car have also been
improved, and so are the brakes, which are from Brembo and feature
6-piston calipers at the front and 4-piston calipers at the back.
At
the interior GM has designed a performance oriented environment, with
seats covered with suede, a flat bottom steering wheel and a newly
designed gear shifter.
