The Chicago Auto Show is right around the corner, and news regarding cars on display are already starting to surface.
According to Ward’s Auto, one of GM’s highlights at this year’s Chicago Auto Show will be the Buick Regal Hybrid, which besides the LaCrosse, will represent the second model to receive the e-Assist technology, and for which production will begin sometime in August.
The Buick Regal Hybrid is expected to have similar consumption figures as the LaCrosse, as the e-Assist will enable a 25 percent boost in efficiency. This means that the 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine powering the Buick Regal Hybrid which will use a six-speed transmission will most probably return around 31 mpg (combined cycle) / 7,9-litres per 100 Km.
The e-Assist system in the Buick Regal Hybrid adds lithium-ion battery power combined with regenerative braking technology, increasing output from the 2.4-litre engine with an additional 15 HP (11 kW) and 15 kW of regenerative braking power.
