Bugatti has announce that the Veyron successor will be named Chiron. More than that the new Molsheim-based model will be officially launched at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. As you may have read the model will pay tribute to Louis Chiron, a Bugatti driver which worked for the company during 1920s and 1930s. 

According to Bugatti he was the best racing driver in the world in his time. As for the new model it is described as the world’s most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive production super sports car ever. In addition the guys feom Bugatti have told us that they have managed to write down more than 100 pre-orders.

The future Bugatti Chiron is currently undergoing final testing and a few prototypes are on the roads. The cars are tested on various roads and in different climate conditions. As a result, the new model will be significantly better than the Veyron. 

For now we do not know the technical details but according to a few sources the new Bugatti Chiron will feature an updated version of the W16 8.0 liter engine. The motor will deliver 1.500 horsepower and about 1.500 Nm peak of torque. The power will be sent to the wheels via a special seven speed transmission. As a result the upcoming Bugatti Chiron will manage to run from not to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds while the acceleration from not to 300 km/h will be made in 15 seconds. The top speed should be around 470 – 480 km/h.

According to Bugatti the new Chiron will be delivered in just 500 units. Chances are this number also includes a Targa version which might come out in 2018.
