"The World’s Fastest and Most Powerful Luxury Coupe" – Does this statement make you think of Brabus? If it doesn’t then it should, because this is their latest accomplishment, a car that is based on the current generation Mercedes CL which they now call the BRABUS 800 Coupe.
This special two-door produces no less than 800 horsepower (788 bhp / 588 kW) and 1,420 Nm (1.047 lb-ft) of torque, and in order to reach these outrageous levels the German tuner had to reengineer the 12-cylinder engine found in the CL 600 and increase its displacement from 5.5 to 6.3-litre.
The engine also features a longer stroke, larger cylinders with equally larger forged pistons, four special camshafts and a high-end turbocharging system which replaces the standard turbocharger. This new system features custom exhaust manifolds and water-to-air intercoolers.
The BRABUS 800 Coupe Mercedes CL is also equipped with a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts, and naturally everything had to be recalibrated via a remapped ECU not only to make sure the car makes the most out of its newly added components but also for it to meet the Euro 5 emission standards.
When the acceleration pedal is pressed and the BRABUS 800 Coupe Mercedes CL starts spinning the rear wheels via its 5-speed automatic transmission, it will only take 3.9 seconds for it to reach 100 Km/h (62 mph). The BRABUS 800 Coupe can also sprint from 0 to 200 Km/h (124 mph) in 10.3 seconds and its top speed is limited to 350 Km/h (217 mph).
Other enhancements that were basically demanded by the car’s massive output include a limited slip differential with a 40 percent lock rate, a lowered center of gravity (-25 mm) as well as high-performance brakes with 405 mm and 380 mm discs featuring 6 and 4-piston callipers.
An exterior kit matched by numerous interior enhancements are also part of BRABUS’s treatment for the Mercedes CL, so if you like what you see, then the tuner offers two options. Either you bring your own CL 600 to the shop or they provide a complete vehicle. Pricing was not announced but we have a hunch that it contains may zeros.
