The Bavarian automaker has showcased the BMW 328 Hommage during this
weekend’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este held near lake Como in Italy.
The car represents a reiteration of the classic/original model born 75
years ago and is based on the Vision Connected Drive Concept first seen
in Geneva in March 2011.
As with any modern concept honoring a
classic, the BMW 328 Hommage combines new technologies, in this case
represented by lightweight design through the usage of carbon fibre
reinforced plastic (CFRP) with a series of styling elements that remind
of the original roadster.
And we are mainly talking about the fact
that the BMW 328 Hommage Concept features an elongated kidney grille,
leather straps along the bonnet and on th sides, a double windscreen and
retro styled alloys. Just like the original 328 the Hommage Concept
does not have doors either.
At the interior things get much more contemporary, as the automaker combines carbon fiber with leather and aluminium.
Powering
the BMW 328 Hommage Concept is a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine for which
specifications and performance remains unspecified.
