It looks like most automakers are now considering entering the SUV segment, mostly because they are inspired by what Porsche has achieved with the Cayenne.
According to a new rumor that surfaced through the French at Turbo.fr, Bentley is one of those automakers who considers developing an SUV, and if that will be the case, then there’s a high chance the car will be based on an SUV from the Volkswagen Group.
This new model should enter the market before the upcoming SUVs from Maserati and Lamborghini, and just like any Bentley it should excel in terms of luxury and comfort. The development of a Bentley SUV has not been officially confirmed yet, but Wolfgang Durheim, the company’s CEO, has expressed his desire of creating a competitor for the Cayenne.
Bentley has recently denied their intention of developing an diesel engine, mostly because their customers are not interested in fuel economy, but if the Crewe based luxury car maker will indeed introduce an SUV, then their engine development strategy could change.
