As you already know, Mercedes-AMG and Aston Martin have signed a contract to use the Germans twin-turbo V8 engine in the future. But this doesn’t mean that the V12 will be discontinued. On the contrary, Andy Palmer, Aston Martin CEO, has announced that they will revise the actual V12 in order to meet the emission requirements.

The first model to come out will be the DB9 successor and it is expected to see the day light in about 18 months. According to rumors, it will get some design influences from the DB10 Concept, the car that will feature in the James Bond SPECTRE.

The car will use the revised V12 engine rather than the twin-turbo V8 signed by Mercedes-AMG. More than that, Palmer says future Aston Martin models will remain driver-focused and are going to be offered with a manual gearbox. In addition, he also expressed the desire to turn the Lagonda moniker into a sub-brand which will help Aston Martin to raise the annual production from 4.000 to 7.000.
