The US safety regulations are more harsher than the European ones. So the US NCAP is a real big deal, compared with the EuroNCAP we find in Europe. Beginning with the 2011 model year, NHTSA introduced more stringent tests and requirements in order to earn 5-star ratings.

The most recent 5-star models to be tested by NCAP was the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. The 2017 Pathfinder’s advanced driver assistance technology includes new Forward Emergency Braking and Intelligent Cruise Control. For 2017, Moving Object Detection has been added to the available Around View Monitor. Also available are Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
