Fiat-Chrsyler Alliance announced a voluntary recall for an estimated 32.267 SUVs in the U.S. This is necessary to address the potential for a certain wire-harness terminal to lose its electrical connection.

If this condition occurs, the vehicle’s shifter may become locked in “PARK” or “NEUTRAL” once the vehicle is brought to a stop. An investigation by FCA US traced the cause to supplied wiring harnesses, some of which may have been incorrectly crimped.

Fortunately, FCA announced it is unaware of any potentially related injuries or accidents.

Affected are certain model-year 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokees. Also subject to recall are an estimated 2,095 vehicles in Canada, 538 in Mexico and 2.472 outside the NAFTA region.

Affected customers will be notified when they may schedule service.
