Chevrolet continues to tease the public debut of its new-generation Camaro muscle car, scheduled to make its appearance in during a celebration on Belle Isle, the 982-acre island park that is home to the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. This year’s running is May 29-31.

Chevrolet expects approximately 1,000 people to attend the Camaro reveal, which will also include a “Camaro Museum” display of the most significant vehicles from the brand’s history, hot-lap rides in the 2015 Camaro Z/28 around the Belle Isle Grand Prix course, meet-and-greet opportunities with Camaro designers and engineers and o encourage Camaro owners to attend, also a Camaro-only parking for them.

The most recent press release regarding the new Camaro unveil adds new information to the puzzle. Chevy says that the engineering team spent 9 million hours of computational time preparing the driving experience of the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro before the first prototype turned a wheel. The structural modeling led to the new Camaro being 28 percent stiffer than the current model.

The more rigid body structure allowed the engineers to more precisely calibrate the steering and suspension systems because they didn’t have to compensate for chassis flex. The lighter structure also enabled the size and mass of elements such as the wheels, tires and brakes to be scaled accordingly.

The press release also includes a teaser image of the wheels and tires of the car. The muscle car will be provided with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires and Brembo brakes.
