Jaguar unveiled today the all new XE, the car set to compete with popular German models like the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4.

The 2015 Jaguar XE is based on the new iQ platform, featuring a 75% aluminum platform. It is a first in the premium segment, making the car one of the lightest in the segment. It is also the first model designed around Jaguar’s all-new modular architecture and is the only car in the class to use an aluminum-intensive monocoque.

Jaguar`s chassis will make use of a double wishbone suspension on the front axle and Integral Link at the back. This is a system usually found only in larger vehicles.

The design is similar to that we see on the current XF, with short front overhang, longer rear overhang, strongly-sculpted bonnet, signature J-Blade running lights and the lowest drag coefficient of any Jaguar yet – just 0.26.

Inside the car we find gloss black, textured aluminum, contemporary wood veneers and ambient lighting in a range of up to 10 colors.

Called InControl, the multimedia unit is designed around an 8 inch screen, offering touch control and voice control. Jaguar InControl Remote will allow users of iOS and Android smartphones to connect to the car and to pre-set the XE’s climate control system, locking or unlocking the doors, or starting the engine.

With the help of some special apps installed on the InControl system, clients will be able to make a conference call, find a parking space or book a hotel room. The XE also functions as a Wi-Fi hotspot, enabling multiple devices to connect to the internet.

The top of the range version will be the XE S, as seen on the firs images. The car uses a supercharged 3.0-litre V6, generating 340PS and 450Nm of torque. Accelerating to 0-60mph in just 4.9 seconds, the XE S has an electronically-limited maximum speed of 155mph.
